House Oversight probes Walz over 'long-standing ties' to China
The subpoena is based on the whistleblower's investigation of the existence of unclassified Microsoft Teams group chats among DHS employees and the existence of additional intelligence reports that allegedly contain information about Mr. Walz's alleged ties to the Chinese Communist Party. This was done after reporting the matter to the committee.
“The Committee recently received a whistleblower disclosure informing the Committee that there are serious concerns among Department of Homeland Security officials regarding the long-standing relationship between the Chinese Communist Party and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walz.” Comer wrote in his subpoena subpoena to Mayorkas.
The unclassified Microsoft Teams group chat is titled “NST NFT Biweekly Sync” and allegedly contains information related to the Comer investigation.
House Oversight Committee officials told Fox News Digital that information about Walz and China is contained in both classified and unclassified documents under DHS control.
“Specifically, through whistleblower disclosures, the Committee discovered that a non-confidential Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees—titled “NST NFT Biweekly Sync''—relevant to the Committee's investigation. I learned that it contained information about the governor,” Comer wrote. “The Committee also learned that additional relevant information regarding Governor Walz is contained in both classified and unclassified documents in the custody of DHS.”
Mr. Comer will delete all documents and communications in Microsoft Teams group chats from July 1, 2024 to the present, and any uploaded or embedded attachments that refer to or relate to Mr. Walz or his office or staff. A subpoena has been issued to Mayorkas seeking documents.
Over 75% of other states called for a Tiktok ban, but Tim Walz did not call for a Tiktok ban on government devices.
Comer is also subpoenaing all intelligence reports and regional intelligence memos related to Walz from November 2023 to the present.
Comer said last month that Walz was “engaged and affiliated” with Chinese entities and was “sensitive” to the Chinese Communist Party's “elite capture” strategy to co-opt elite political, cultural and academic figures. It was revealed that it has become. “Influencing the United States to the benefit of communist regimes and to the detriment of the American people.”
Comer pointed to reports that Walz organized trips to China for Alliance High School students while working as a teacher in the 1990s. The cost was reportedly “paid for by the Chinese government.”

Comer is investigating a private company Walz founded in 1994 called Education Travel Adventures. The company coordinated annual student trips to China until 2003, led by Walz.
The company was reportedly “disbanded four days after he became a member of parliament in 2007.”
Comer said Walz has visited China an estimated “30 times.”
“In its investigation, the committee emphasized the importance of U.S. officials being aware of the Chinese Communist Party's political and psychological warfare efforts to threaten national security,” Comer said last month. Ta.
Comer then pointed to Walz's time as a member of Congress, noting that he served as a research fellow at Macau Polytechnic University, a Chinese educational institution marked by “long-standing dedication and love for the motherland.” .
At the beginning of the investigation last month, Comer said, “At the time he disclosed his activities as a Macau researcher, Mr. Walz also had significant credit card debt.'' He mentioned that he was the headliner at a national tournament. In Minnesota.
“Governor Walz spoke alongside the president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, which a year later the State Department exposed as a “Beijing-based organization tasked with co-opting local governments.'' “These included 'direct' efforts and negative influence on state and local leaders to advance China's global agenda,” Comer said.

Comer said that Walz himself “admitted that China does not fall into the category of “inevitably needing to be an adversary.''
“Despite bipartisan efforts to identify and defeat the Chinese Communist Party's extra-limit war against the United States, Governor Walz continues to have problematic engagements with relevant groups and individuals,” Comer wrote.
Comer also pointed to a March 2024 meeting that Walz had with Consul General Zhao Jian to discuss “China-US relations and subnational cooperation.”
Comer said in a letter to Mayorkas on Monday that his committee's investigation of the Chinese Communist Party began long before Walz became the Democratic vice presidential nominee, and that the investigation was aimed at “infiltration and influence of the Chinese Communist Party.” “We are focused on understanding the scope of the power campaign and identifying legislative changes.” Counter the Chinese Communist Party's political war targeting prominent Americans to capture the elite. ”
“This is concerning to the federal government's efforts, especially if a state governor or a major political party's U.S. vice presidential candidate has knowingly or unknowingly participated in the Chinese Communist Party's efforts to undermine our country. “This would strongly suggest weaknesses that must be addressed with urgency to protect the United States from the Chinese Communist Party's political warfare,” Comer wrote. “Along these lines, the committee is currently considering legislative solutions to remedy the deficiencies it has already identified in the agency's strategy to combat the Chinese Communist Party's political warfare.”
