Why Shedeur Sanders snubbed Cam Newton in strange pregame moment

Colorado quarterback Shedule Sanders wasn't interested in talking to former NFL signal-caller Cam Newton before the Buffaloes' 48-21 win over Central Florida on Saturday.

Things appeared friendly between the two when they met on the field at FBC Mortgage Stadium and shook hands, but then Sanders walked away and Newton looked confused.

“He said I was in a weird state,” Newton told those on the field after the brief exchange, as seen in an X video that captured the tense moment.

Newton appeared to be holding Sanders' hand as the Heisman candidates left and resumed warmups.

The 11-year NFL veteran last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2021, but did not elaborate further on the exchange.

It's unclear what Mr. Sanders clearly meant by his comment.
