Former President Donald Trump said during Tuesday's vice presidential debate that he does not support a federal abortion ban and would veto such a bill if it was on his desk to sign if he were president. He added that he would exercise the right.
President Trump said on social media during the vice presidential debate:
everyone knows I do not support a federal ban on abortion.under no circumstances and will, In fact, it's up to the states to decide based on the will of their voters, so veto it. (The will of the people!). Like Ronald Reagan before me, I fully support the three exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother. I do not support the Democratic Party's radical positions on late-term abortions, such as the possible execution of babies at 7, 8, 9 months, or after birth, if any questions are asked. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. [Emphasis added]
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democratic), Kamala Harris' running mate, said: There's a reason we're ranked number one in health care in Minnesota. We trust women. We trust our doctors. ”
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), President Trump's running mate, said, “Our party has lost confidence in the American people on this issue because, frankly, the American people are just speaking out.'' We need to do a better job of getting that back.” Don't believe us…As Republicans we want to be pro-family. This is the fullest meaning of the word. ”
