Trump tops Harris by 2 points in Florida: Survey

Former President Trump has a two-point lead over Vice President Harris in Florida, according to a new poll.

In a poll released Thursday, Neapolitan News ServiceAmong likely voters in the Sunshine State, Trump had a 50% approval rating, while Harris had a 48% approval rating. About 1% of respondents in the Republican candidate's home state said they were still unsure about their choice heading into November.

The vice president has an advantage among younger voters, with 55% approval among respondents aged 18 to 34, compared to 37% for Trump. But the poll showed the former president had a lead among older voters, with 63% supporting him, compared to 37% for the Democratic candidate.

The poll also showed Harris leading among black and Hispanic voters in the state, while Trump held an advantage among white respondents.

Democratic candidates received 87% support from black voters, compared to 13% for Trump. According to the data, Harris' approval rating among Hispanics was 62%, compared to 38% for the former president.

A Telemundo poll released earlier this week found Trump leading Harris by seven points among Florida Hispanics, 48% to 41%. A Morning Consult poll in early September showed him leading the vice president by two points, 49% to 47%.

The Emerson College Poll and The Hill poll released early last month showed a 5-point lead for the Republican candidate in Florida (50% to 45%). Trump currently has a 2.4 percentage point lead over Harris in Florida, according to the latest poll tally from The Hill/Decision Desk headquarters.

In 2020, Trump won the right-leaning state over President Biden by about 3.3 percentage points.

The Neapolitan News Service poll was conducted Sept. 25-27 among 774 likely Florida voters. The margin of error was 3.5 percentage points.
