Wind and rain to hit UK as remnant of Hurricane Kirk passes by | UK weather

Britons may have to brace for gusty winds and rain as the tail end of Hurricane Kirk passes by next week.

The Met Office warned that the remnants of an extreme storm barreling towards northwest Europe could cause destructive conditions from mid-week, but the weekend will bring unsettled weather.

Hurricane Kirk remains a Category 4 force in the mid-north Atlantic. “Kirk is expected to lose hurricane status in the North Atlantic early next week and then push towards northwest Europe,” said Chris Bloomer, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office.

“The resulting low pressure system could still bring damaging rain and winds to some areas, including parts of the UK, from the middle of next week. There are still many details about the system's exact trajectory and timing. should be considered.

“Across the UK, the risk of heavy rain and strong winds is expected to be highest in parts of England and Wales on Wednesday and Thursday. However, a further southerly of this regime, which is equally plausible at this stage, will be the most destructive. This situation will have an impact on France.”

It will change,” he said. within the week.

“Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to cool quickly with showers, and the effects of the cold (possibly snow in the Scottish mountains) are likely to gradually move south.

“There is then the possibility of a calmer interlude, but further winds and rain could move in from the west over the next week, again centered on southern regions, and temperatures could return to near normal.”

The weekend is expected to be sunny or rainy for many. Met Office meteorologist Honor Chriswick said Saturday was expected to be sunny across much of England and Wales, but there was a chance of rain in other parts of the country.

She said: “We will still see some rain in parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland at the start of the weekend.” [with the weather] Once you cross the Scottish border, the weather will generally calm down by the afternoon.

“Elsewhere, there will be plenty of bright sunshine, it will feel warmer, and the winds will be calmer in that sunshine.”

She said some heavy rain was expected in the afternoon and evening, but “it will still feel warm and comfortable for this time of year” with a high of 17 to 18 degrees.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said Sunday will continue to be sunny with heavy rain, with a maximum temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, and a band of rain that could become heavy at times on Sunday.
