Watch live: Trump holds town hall in North Carolina

Former President Trump will hold a town hall event Friday night in the battleground state of North Carolina.

The event came just hours after he was scheduled to accompany Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) in the Peach State to inspect storm damage from Hurricane Helen, his second trip to the state this week. It was done later. Helen was the worst storm since Hurricane Katrina, leaving more than 200 people dead and millions recovering from power outages along with record flooding across the southeastern United States, including North Carolina.

President Trump is scheduled to tour storm-ravaged areas of the Tar Heel State next week.

The former president launched a GoFundMe page for hurricane victims earlier this week, which had raised more than $5 million as of Friday afternoon.

In North Carolina, Mr. Trump leads Vice President Harris by less than 1 percentage point (49.1% to 48.3%), according to Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling index.

City Hall in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EDT.
