Walz slams Vance in Ohio: 'Not a reflection' of the state's people

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), Harris' running mate, criticized Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) on Saturday at a campaign event near the senator's hometown. , said former President Trump's running mate did not reflect “integrity.” of people in the state.

“He does not reflect the integrity of the people of Ohio,” Walz said at an event on behalf of the Harris Victory Fund, according to NewsNation's Jackie Koppel. Walz said the senator did not certify the 2020 presidential election and criticized him for refusing to answer during last week's vice presidential debate whether Trump lost the presidential election.

Walz also accused Trump and Vance of amplifying false claims that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating residents' pets.

“And now, in the midst of a chaotic world, in the final days of a presidential election with a predicted outcome, Donald Trump stands on that debate stage and says, “They're eating the dog.'' “They're eating cats,'' Walz told Koppel.

“I understand where I stand in Ohio State, and something like that would be interesting if it wasn't so dangerous,” he added.

Springfield city officials later called those claims “unfounded.”

Trump currently leads Harris in Ohio, 51.9% to 45%, according to a Hill/Decision Desk poll.

Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a rally on Saturday, making his first appearance in the city since the assassination attempt on him in July. He was joined by the families of tech billionaire Elon Musk and Corey Comperatore, who was killed by a gunman at a rally in July.

Pennsylvania is a battleground state for the two candidates, with Harris narrowly leading Trump by less than a point, according to Hill/Decision Desk polls.
