Even the liberal “Saturday Night Live” had to make fun of Tim Walz's debate performance.
The left-leaning comedy depicts Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and her political sidekick having to deal with wine to survive her performance in last week's debate with Republican opponent J.D. Vance. made him furious.
Comedian Maya Rudolph, reprising her role as Harris, sat on a couch next to her colleague Andy Samberg, who plays Veep's husband Doug Emhoff, and the two pretended to watch the debate in horror.
“Okay, okay. He's just doing his thing, whatever it is,” Harris, who plays Rudolph, tried to reassure himself, chuckling nervously as he drank wine.
She immediately began to regret not choosing “Josh”. He is probably referring to the type of Cabernet, and not to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (Democratic), who was a top vice presidential candidate along with Walz.
Samberg's Emhoff tried to assure her that Waltz wasn't trying to “say anything crazy.” Comedian Jim Gaffigan's Waltz then repeated Veep's debacle from last week's altercation.
“I made friends with a school shooter,” Waltz, played by Gaffigan, blurts out, causing Harris, played by Rudolph, to break a wine glass in agony.
Samberg's Emhoff readily acknowledged, “As a stupid white person, this is something that really drives my peers back.”
While Fake Harris is upset by the vice presidential candidate's performance and the unique “atmosphere” with Vance on stage, a dubious President Biden, played by Dana Carvey, appears unaware of where he is. I came into the room.
“You're not here. I'll be back later,” Carvey's clueless Biden told Rudolph's Harris, who ushered him to the couch.
“Come on, Waltz. What's wrong with that guy? He's crazy. Get your facts straight, Jack. You have to say, 'No Joe, this is the deal, tell me straight.'” he added, using Biden's trusty crutch. “By the way, you should talk about all the great things we've been doing.”
Comedian Bowen Yang's Vance also defended former President Donald Trump's handling of the Affordable Care Act and his claim that Trump made a “peaceful transfer of power” after losing the 2020 election. mocked the Ohio senator.
“We said we don’t fact check,” Vance’s character said.
Gaffigan's Walz answered without pause: “If I'm allowed to stand here and lie, I'd like to say that I was actually in Tiananmen Square,” adding that Minnesota was in Hong Kong at the time of the infamous fatal accident. He implied that the governor was lying. control.
At the end of the parody debate, “SNL” mocked Vance for dodging a question about whether President Trump would concede the election.
As the fake waltz explodes with joy, Vance, played by Yang, grimaces and says, “I'm focused on the future.''
Rudolph's Harris said, “Well, this is a big win. It didn't make any difference.”
Mr. Carvey's Mr. Biden sat there, amused, munching on his ice cream and offering a bit of a delayed pep talk.
“Here's the deal,” he began with a stiff look on his face. “The vice president has nothing to do with it.
“So who was Obama's vice president? No one knows,” said Biden, who was former President Barack Obama's vice president.
“You'll make a great president,” he told Harris' character. “Once that's done, it's my turn. Biden 2028.”
