Andrea Mitchell says Kamala Harris has a ‘big problem’ connecting to ‘Black men,’ who don’t take her seriously

MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell said Sunday that Vice President Kamala Harris is struggling to resonate with white and black male voters.

Michelle told “Meet the Press” that Harris needs to be more visible in the media because she is not seen as a “heavyweight”.

“She has a huge problem with men,” Mitchell said, adding that Trump's support among these groups may be underestimated.

She also blamed misogyny as one of the reasons why Harris is not taken as seriously among men in both Republicans and Democrats.

“I think there’s misogyny in all of this, black and white. [it’s a] big problem. But it's also the business world. They don't think she's serious. They don't think she's a heavyweight. And a lot of that is due to gender, but she needs to be more specific about her financial plans,” Mitchell continued, adding, “They need to double down on more interviews and serious interviews. I think so,” he continued.

Harris has come under fire for largely avoiding media interviews. She has yet to hold a formal press conference since becoming the Democratic nominee 72 days ago. In response to the criticism, Harris shifted strategy and stepped up her interviews. This week, Harris will appear on “The View,” “The Howard Stern Show” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

The hosts of all three shows expressed support for Harris.

Andrea Mitchell says Vice President Kamala Harris doesn't resonate with men.

“I think this is great,” said former White House press secretary Jen Psaki. “At this point in time when everything is important, you have to take risks and people are going to make mistakes. It's worth it. You get them out there and do a lot of things. ”
