When 23-year-old “Gaba” saw empty shelves during the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
A homesteader-turned-city girl trades ultra-processed food, medicine, and a desk job for 38 acres of farmland, where she learns how to be self-sufficient.
“There was nothing in the fridge. The freezer was barren. People were crazy and fighting over bags of dried beans. And I still remember staring at the empty shelves and saying, “What am I doing here?” I rely on a system that can easily break. I became dependent on this unreliable system,” says Gaba. glenn beck On “The Glenn Beck Podcast.”
“I said, 'I'm never going to be in a situation like this again.' So I think that's what really inspired me and started to really wake up a lot of other people. ” she added.
Gubba acquired a large tract of land to realize his homesteading dreams, but he told Glenn, “You don't need land to be self-sufficient.”
“A great place to start is to cook from scratch in your kitchen or create a small garden in your window and learn these skills,” she says. But it's not just the food supply that fuels Gaba's more holistic lifestyle, but the impact it has on her health and her animals.
“Because I'm nourishing myself with the right minerals and vitamins, getting sunlight, getting vitamin D, and avoiding stress properly, I don't have any negative feelings in my life that make me feel low energetically. That's why I stay healthy,'' she tells Glenn.
“I also feed my dogs raw dog food, buy from a local butcher to support them, and pick up trash,” she explains. “Look at the cancer rates in animals skyrocketing just by eating kibble. Go look at kibble, it's soy, it's cornmeal and its byproducts.”
“Kibble recalls keep happening because animals are dying and it's being covered up. That's interesting because it's not just our food system that's benefiting, it's pet food. And that makes me even sadder because they don't have a voice,” said Gaba, who paid 80 a pound for boxes of organs from a local butcher to give to the dogs. I pointed out that I was buying it for cents.
“If you go locally and start looking around, you can find these sources like I did,” she added.
