Royals steal ALDS Game 2 on road against Yankees

Kansas City Royals hitters woke up heading into Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees en route to a 4-2 victory in the Bronx.

The Royals trailed early in the game, with Gleyber Torres scoring from second base on Giancarlo Stanton's single. Torres beat a throw and the Yankees took the lead in the third inning, 1-0.

But in the next half, the Royals jumped on Carlos Rodon.

Salvador Perez hit a solo home run to tie the game. Tommy Pham's RBI single allowed Yuli Gurriel to home in the winning run. After Hampson singled to Pham, Michael Garcia forced Garrett Hampson home. That capped off a four-run fourth.

Garcia had four hits in five at-bats and one RBI. Hampson was 2-for-2 on the night.

That was all the Royals needed to close out the game, even though the Yankees applied pressure with a solo home run by Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the ninth inning.

New York went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Cole Regans gave Kansas City four innings. He allowed one run on three hits and struck out five batters. Angel Zerpa pitched one inning with no strikeouts and was credited with the win. Lucas Erceg picked up the save.

Kansas City took the game and New York entered the series with home field advantage.
