The latest possible teacher sex scandal comes after a teacher in Texas was caught having “sexual contact” with a student inside a house under construction, authorities said.
According to release Deputies received a call from the Comal County Sheriff's Office about a “suspicious person” at a home under construction in Garden Ridge on Thursday around 6 p.m.
“We understand that it may be very disturbing to learn that one of our teachers has been charged with these crimes.”
Deputies said they found an adult female and a juvenile male inside the unfinished home. When detectives contacted the individuals involved, they said the adult woman and the minor were “engaging in sexual contact.”
Police arrested Jennifer Massey, 51, a teacher from Selma in Comal County. Massey was charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony.
Massey was being held in the Comal County Jail. The guarantee amount has not yet been set.
Police have not released the age of the alleged victim.
The Comal County Sheriff's Office said the investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, Massey took a leave of absence from his teaching job at Davenport High School.
Comal Independent School District released a statement. KENS-TV Regarding the accusations, they said, “The school district does not tolerate inappropriate relationships between teachers and students. Ensuring the safety and security of our students is our top priority. We remain fully committed to law enforcement during the investigation.” We will cooperate with you.”
Davenport High School Principal Angela Rooney sent a message to parents. KABB-TV“The school district learned last night that Mrs. Massey was charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student.” Rooney added in the message that Massey “was placed on administrative leave this morning and will not be returning to Davenport High School.”
The principal further added, “The safety and security of our students is one of our school's top priorities, and we take that responsibility seriously. During the hiring process, the district's human resources department will , we will conduct a thorough background check and criminal history investigation,'' he added. It is done by individuals who have the best interests of all students in mind. ”
“I understand that it may be very disturbing to learn that one of our teachers has been charged with these crimes,” Rooney wrote.
