Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has sent a letter to the Biden-Harris administration asking it to provide data to help identify up to 500,000 people in the state who were incorrectly registered to vote but may not be citizens. I asked for it.
Paxton, a Republican, said the Biden-Harris administration has “legislation” that would turn over such information to help the Lone Star State determine the citizenship status of certain registered voters who do not have Texas-issued driver's licenses. “We ask for the full cooperation of the federal government to ensure we identify non-citizens who remain on Texas voter registration rolls,” Paxton said in a statement. “The Biden-Harris Administration has a legal obligation to assist countries in doing so, and it is imperative that we use all available tools to protect the integrity of our elections.”

Paxton obtained a list of approximately 454,289 registered voters in Texas whose citizenship has never been verified. This list is derived from a computerized list of voters that must be maintained by the Texas Secretary of State (SOS).

“While there is no doubt that the vast majority of voters on the list are citizens eligible to vote, Texans have no way of knowing whether any of the voters on the list are noncitizens who are not eligible to vote. I am equally confident that there is no 'vote,''' Paxton wrote in the letter.
“In fact, a recent SOS audit confirmed that more than 1,300 non-citizens were registered to vote in four randomly selected counties covered by the election audit. And that's just verifiable. There are so many members of the federal government, 1,300 is too many.'' State and local elections are decided by a small number of votes. ”
Paxton is trying to crack down on non-referendum votes.
In August, his office's Election Integrity Division conducted raids in three South Texas counties as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of fraud and ballot harvesting.

Republicans have expressed concern about non-citizens being registered to vote ahead of the 2024 presidential election, which requires voter integrity.
