In a crucial Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Alonso hit a solo home run off Aaron Nola in the fourth inning, giving New York a two-run lead.

New York scored four more points to win 7-2 and lead the series 2-1. Alonso had one hit in two at-bats, scored two runs, and walked two.
“I'm really happy that I got a good swing on the ball,” Alonso said. SNY TV. “Aaron and I have known each other for a long time. He knows me and I know him. He's a very talented pitcher. He was able to do well for the team there. I'm very happy about that.”
He further added, “If I'm hitting the ball the other way, that's a good sign.”

It was Alonso's third home run of the postseason. He hit a clutch home run in the National League Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, helping the Mets advance to the next round of the postseason. It's the kind of performance the Mets have lacked for years.
Sean Manaea also pitched seven innings for New York, allowing three hits and one run, striking out six batters. He had a 10.66 ERA and was 0-3 entering the game.
