Utah-based software company CEO Justin Bingham dies after 200-foot fall at Zion National Park: officials

The CEO of a Utah-based software company tragically died over the weekend after falling 200 feet while climbing in Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah, officials said.

Around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday, Justin Bingham, 40, was canyoning near the exit of Heaps Canyon when he fell about 150 to 200 feet, the National Park Service (NPS) said in a statement. I admitted it.

He was with three other climbers, all of whom were following an approved itinerary, NPS said.

After receiving reports of a fall, Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team and the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene and provided emergency medical treatment.

Bingham was rescued by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to a helispot, where he received additional assistance, but it was too late. He was pronounced dead before being taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends and we extend our deepest condolences during this unimaginably difficult time,” Zion National Park Director Jeff Bradybaugh said in a statement.

Bingham was CEO of Opinion, a software company focused on real estate management solutions located in Lyndon, a suburb of Provo.

The company confirmed his death to Fox News Digital, saying the tragic accident occurred while he was enjoying one of his greatest passions: exploring the outdoors.

“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of authentic connections with clients and within his team. His commitment to building meaningful relationships was shared by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. “Justin had a lasting impact on his life. His adventurous spirit and dedication to living life to the fullest will be greatly missed,” the company said.

“If you spent any time around him, he was an eternal optimist. “Everything is going to be okay,'' he told me over and over again.'' But he was right, and usually is,” added Devin Shurtleff, Opinion's president and chief operating officer.

“Justin was more than just a thought leader here at the Opinion, he was a mentor, father, and friend to many of us. He believed that the relationships we build are what make this job meaningful. And he really lived that every day,” Shurtleff continued.

Zion National Park and the Washington County Sheriff's Office are still investigating Bingham's exact cause of death.
