of golden state warriors This year won't feel the same without Klay Thompson. Thompson signed a contract. dallas mavericks He became an NBA free agent after his contract ended, ending his legendary partnership with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr, who helped win four NBA championships. The Warriors had a busy offseason, missing out on signings Paul George and Lauri Markkanen, but bounced back with smaller deals for Buddy Hield, De'Anthony Melton and Kyle Anderson.
On Wednesday, the Warriors played Thompson for the first time since signing in Dallas, and somehow, even without one half of the “Splash Brothers,” Golden State still looked truly terrifying from the 3-point range.
The Warriors opened the preseason with a 122-112 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night. Golden State accomplished this by making 28 3-pointers. This set a franchise record and would have been the most in a single game in history if it weren't for the preseason.
The Warriors made 28 of 52 3-point shots. Curry made 3 of 6 from deep in the 16th minute, and his teammates scored from there. this is only one of them milwaukee bucksThe NBA record of 29 threes in a game was set in 2020 with no fans in the stands and everyone's shooting numbers seemed better.
What a wild shooting display by the Warriors. See all manufacturers here:
warriors He set a franchise record with 27 threes. In a match in April portland trail blazers In 2023, he dropped 157 points. Thompson made six threes in the game. Hitting more threes in the first game without Thompson is definitely impressive, even if it was during the preseason.
Jonathan Kuminga making 4-of-7 threes is very encouraging for the Warriors, who only hit 32 percent from triples last year. If Golden State's starting lineup from Wednesday night with Kuminga, Green and Kevon Looney is going to work, he's going to have to take shots like that. It was also good to see second-year player Brandin Podziemski, who is poised to replace Thompson in the lineup, make 2 of 3.
Signing new free agents also paid off. Buddy Hield made 6 of 7 shots in the game, and Melton made 4 of 9 shots. Hield often gets off to a strong start with his new team when he changes organizations, so we'll see how this goes.
What a great game for the Warriors. The Kings defense is probably going to be very bad this year, but that doesn't matter. It's still preseason, but seeing a team shoot like this should make you feel good.
