Deshaun Watson had another terrible performance as the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback on Sunday, this time in a 20-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Watson was traded to the Browns in 2022 and agreed to a five-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $230 million, but he completed 16 of 24 passes for 168 yards and was waived five times. It was done. He didn't throw a touchdown pass, nor did the entire Browns offense.

Cleveland has yet to score at least 20 points this season. ESPN's Field Yates noted that the Browns are the first team in a decade to fail to reach the 20-point plateau through the first six games of the regular season.
With no hope in sight, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski asked questions about the starting quarterback situation. He was adamant that Watson remain the starting quarterback.
Mitchell Schwartz, a former Super Bowl champion and NFL offensive lineman who won a ring with the Kansas City Chiefs, was harshly critical of the Browns for continuing to keep Watson as the starter, a sentiment echoed by many in the Browns' fan base. That's the idea.
“It's an incredibly awful thing to do to the rest of the team,” Schwartz wrote in X. “(Offensive lineman) Joel Bitonio is out there every week, you're playing against guys you don't know what you're dealing with, and when they come, you have to break down,” QB Myles Garrett said every week. He's playing through pain, so there's no chance he'll do well. ”

Mr. Schwartz made it clear that he believed the responsibility did not lie with Mr. Stefanski, but rather with the people making decisions for him.
“Whoever is doing that is doing the rest of the roster a disservice,” Schwartz added.
Watson went from being a top-5, at least top-10 quarterback with the Houston Texans to statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.
He hasn't thrown for at least 200 yards in a game since Nov. 12, 2023, the last game of the season.
He hasn't thrown for at least 300 yards since Jan. 3, 2021, his last game against the Texans. At the time, 300 passing yards was commonplace for him. He had 10 hits in the 2020 season.
“We're putting ourselves in a danger zone by not being able to accomplish what we want to accomplish,” Watson said after the game.

The team is being built with an eye on the postseason, so one more loss would certainly destroy their chances of returning to the playoffs.
