A data scientist at Casino.ca told Fox News Digital in an email that interest in UFOs is growing.
“Many people have always found UFOs interesting, but the recent increase in interest is probably related to advances in technology, reporting of sightings and perhaps a reduction in stigma associated with classified aerospace projects,” the data scientist said. “

According to NUFORC, Louisiana ranks as the least likely state to see a UFO, with one sighting for every 3,815 people.

California ranks first among states with the most reported UFO sightings, according to a report published by Casino.ca, which collected data from NUFORC. (St. Petersburg)
Below, take a look at the top five states where people claim to have seen UFOs.
1. California
Casino.ca finds one UFO per 1,075 people and ranks the Golden State as the top place where people claim to have “seen” a UFO, with 36,286 sightings reported since 1974.
Data scientists at Casino.ca say there may be several reasons behind the high number of UFO sightings reported in California.
“For example, the vastness and diversity of the state's landscape, from vast deserts to coastal areas, provides many locations where unusual flying objects may be sighted,” the data scientist said.
A recent NUFORC report on October 5th describes a sighting, in which the person said: “There were no clouds in the sky and there was no wind. A cloud-shaped ring was seen not very high in the sky. I could see it moving quickly.”
2. Washington
The second most reported UFO is the presence of one for every 1,093 people, with approximately 7,125 UFO “sightings” found in Washington. Sightings in California are 409% more common than in Washington state.
The alleged sighting took place on October 6th, and a witness said, “As I was walking out the front door with my dog, I saw a very bright object high in the sky.'' However, NUFORC concluded that the alleged sighting was actually a balloon.

5. New York
The Empire State ranked fifth with 6,405 total sightings. One UFO sighting is reported for every 1,301 New Yorkers.
