A new AARP poll released Tuesday shows U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) with a 3-point lead over her Republican rival, former Rep. Mike Rogers (Mich.).
Slotkin gets 49% support between While likely voters in the Wolverine State, Mr. Rogers won 46%. 5% said they supported another person or did not support either.
Michigan's Senate race is one of the few fierce battles for Senate seats this year, with Democrats hoping to maintain control in a difficult climate. Mr. Slotkin leads Mr. Rodgers by 2.7 percentage points, according to The Hill/Decision Desk's average Michigan poll.
Mr. Slotkin and Mr. Rogers held their first debate last week on issues including foreign policy, manufacturing and immigration.
The AARP poll also found that among likely Michigan voters, Vice President Harris and former President Trump have a tied approval rating at 46%. Michigan, along with neighboring states Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, are key states for either major party candidate to win in the upcoming November election.
AARP's survey was conducted Oct. 2-8 and surveyed 1,382 likely voters, 600 of whom were included in the statewide representative sample, as well as voters “50 and older.'' An oversample of 470 likely black voters and 312 likely black voters in the same age group was selected. .
A statewide representative sample had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
