Time to bundle up!
This week's weather is shaping up to be spine-chilling, with freeze warnings in effect for several counties in New Jersey and the Hudson Valley, and frost advisories for parts of Connecticut.
Tri-State residents should be wary of freezing temperatures dropping into the 30s Wednesday into Thursday morning. This was announced by the National Weather Service.
Wednesday morning's coldest temperatures came a day after New York City recorded its coldest morning since late April.
Temperatures have dropped in the Big Apple, but many northern New Yorkers in parts of Dutchess and Ulster counties are already waking up to subzero temperatures this week.
Temperatures are also feeling colder this week due to strong winds of over 50 mph on Monday, but were expected to remain around 20 mph on Wednesday. According to NBC4.
The average nightly low temperature in Central Park in mid-October is in the low 50s, but Thursday's temperature is expected to be about 10 degrees cooler, the newspaper said.
“Frost and freezing conditions can kill crops and other sensitive plants and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the National Weather Service warned. “Take steps now to protect your tender plants from the cold.”

Chilly conditions are expected in several Connecticut counties, including northern Fairfield, northern Middlesex, northern New Haven and northern New London. Warnings were also issued for Passaic County in western New Jersey, Orange County and Putnam County in New York.
New Yorkers should bundle up and prepare for the cold weather, but temperatures are expected to rise again by the end of the week, with temperatures predicted to reach around 70 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
