With less than three weeks until Election Day, the latest polls in the battleground state of Georgia show that former President Trump maintains a single-digit lead over Vice President Harris in the race for the state's 16 important electoral votes. was shown.

But polls in neighboring North Carolina, another key battleground state that also has 16 electoral votes, show Ms. Harris with a slight advantage over Mr. Trump.

A Quinnipiac North Carolina poll showed Harris leading Trump, 49% to 47%, to Oliver's 1%.

This is a turnaround from last month, when Trump held a two-point lead over Harris.

Most other recent polls show Trump with a slight lead over Harris in states he narrowly inherited from Biden four years ago.

“There's a population of electors that are going to be mined between these states,” said Tim Malloy, a Quinnipiac University polling analyst. “The state is up for grabs.”

Pointing specifically to North Carolina, Malloy pointed out, “In a very close race, there is a huge gender gap between the two candidates, with Harris being the woman and Trump being the man, until the very end.''

The poll's release comes as both states begin early voting this week.

Georgia began voting at the ballot box on Tuesday, setting a new record on the first day. North Carolina begins early voting on Thursday.
