New York, New York – The Los Angeles Dodgers showed a powerful punch for the second time in three games.
The Dodgers offensive line exploded and the New York Mets offensive line was dormant, but Los Angeles won 8–0 and took a 2–1 lead in the National League Championship Series.
The Dodgers took a 2-0 lead into the top of the second inning, thanks in large part to sloppy Mets defense that led to two unearned runs from New York starting pitcher Luis Severino. New York threatened in the bottom of the second inning, but Mets slugger Francisco Lindor ended the threat with a strikeout with the bases loaded.

On a lively night in Queens, the teams traded zero runs until the sixth inning, when Quique Hernandez hit a two-run homer to give Los Angeles a 4-0 lead. The Mets fought back again, but once again the rally was dashed when “OMG” singer Jose Iglesias grounded into a 5-4-3 double play.
The Dodgers didn't need much help, but Shohei Ohtani hit a long three-run homer in the eighth inning to take a 7-0 lead. In the 9th inning, Max Muncy added a solo home run to round out the scoring.

Dodgers' Dave Roberts still enjoys “beating that team across town.''
Walker Buehler pitched just four scoreless innings, but the Dodgers didn't have the guts to play him against the lineup for the third time (he also threw 90 pitches). However, the four relief pitchers combined for five scoreless frames. Meanwhile, Reed Garrett and Tyler Megill combined for six earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched, four of which went to Megill.
This is not unfamiliar territory for the Mets, who have had their backs against the wall numerous times over the past two weeks. This is what Mets legend Darryl Strawberry praised this year's team, saying it shares something with his legendary 1986 team.
But the Mets need to act quickly.
