Brit Hume: 'Combative' Harris didn't 'clear doubts' with Fox interview

Fox News commentator Brit Hume said Vice President Harris' interview with the station this week did little to quell her critics.

“She was combative and energetic and certainly took a toll on Donald Trump,” Hume said after Harris' interview with anchor Bret Baier on the station's “Special Report.” He spoke on Fox minutes later. “But in terms of how well she answered your questions…Brett, she didn't give you much, and you did a great job of asking those questions.”

During the less than 30-minute interview, the vice president's first formal roundtable on the top-rated cable news channel, Baier and Harris weighed in on her positions on immigration, prisoner gender reassignment surgery and foreign policy. We argued.

“I'm sure her partisans will look at this and say yay, Kamala,” Hume continued. “She fought you. But if people had any doubts about her, I don't think she cleared them.”

Harris' sit-down with Fox was seen as a key moment in the 2024 presidential campaign, with less than three weeks until Election Day.

The vice president told Baier that his presidency was “not a continuation” of Biden's presidency and warned that former President Donald Trump would use violence to suppress his critics if elected.

Harris has repeatedly asked Trump to hold another debate before Election Day, but the former president has rejected the proposal, saying there is not enough time until Nov. 5.

President Trump participated in a town hall focused on women's issues and the economy that aired on FOX early Thursday.
