Dolton ‘Dictator’ Mayor Tiffany Henyard launches reelection bid

Dalton's so-called “dictator” wants to stay in power.

Tiffany Henyard, the self-proclaimed “super mayor” of Dalton, Illinois, announced her candidacy for re-election on Tuesday, despite facing a myriad of controversies during her first term that brought her under intense federal scrutiny.

“Attention, attention, attention, attention,” she said on Facebook. “I am running for re-election as mayor of Dalton.”

But Henyard, who is set to run for a first term in 2021, hasn't done much fundraising before Tuesday's announcement.

Her latest campaign disclosure report shows that her campaign, Friends of Tiffany Henyard, did not record any donations or expenditures between July and September.

Henyard, who is facing charges of misappropriating taxpayer funds in Dalton, is listed as her campaign's treasurer. She loaned her campaign $20,000 in March and has nearly $64,000 in funds, according to campaign finance information.

The criticized leader will face off against Dalton board colleague Jason House, who is part of a team of candidates known as the Clean House Slate. He is running alongside other incumbent trustees against Henyard.

“We look forward to voting day and hope our residents will vote for us to continue the work we have been doing,” House said. Wednesday's Chicago Tribune.

Divisions within the village have grown even wider in recent months, with Henyard and some board members meeting at different times and locations. Last week, she stormed into a meeting held by a dissident village board and left the meeting amid jeers and jeers.

The city of Dalton and Thornton Township, which Henyard leads as supervisor, were hit with federal subpoenas earlier this year. Her political committee, charity organization, and their associates were also subpoenaed. WGNTV reported at the time.

Paul denies any wrongdoing.

Trustee Kiana Belcher, who is running with the House, called Henyard's re-election “ridiculous” and accused the mayor of causing chaos in the village.

“The community doesn't want to continue under her leadership,” Belcher said. “I'm not shocked because I know her. I'm certainly not shocked.”

“No matter what happens, she's not going to leave without a fight. That's one thing I can say, she's a true warrior, so I'm not surprised,” Belcher continued, adding that the list of nominees is He pointed out that decency and order would be restored.

Henyard asserted that Dalton voters “will give me overwhelming support and commitment.”

“They know the truth. I am determined and determined to continue fighting for the village for the next four years.” she told NBC 5 Chicago through her attorney.

The Democratic primary will be held in February next year, according to the Tribune.
