Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Trump by one point nationally, according to an Emerson College poll released Friday.
According to a national poll, 49% of voters said they supported Harris, while 48% said they supported Trump. Harris' narrow lead is well within the poll's 3-point margin of error. 1% of voters surveyed said they would support a candidate other than the main candidate, while the remaining 2% said they were undecided.
But when undecided voters were asked which candidate they were leaning toward, Harris' approval rating rose to 50%, while Trump's approval rating was 49%.
Opinion polls also showed Harris leading Trump in favorability. Fifty-three percent of voters said they had a favorable view of Harris, while 47% said they had an unfavorable view of her. President Trump has a favorable rating of 49% and an unfavorable rating of 51%.
The gender gap between Harris and Trump supporters, which has received considerable attention in recent weeks, was also evident in the poll results. Among men, Trump led Harris 56% to 42%, while among women Harris led 55% to 41%.
The latest polls come less than three weeks after Election Day and as early voting has begun in many states. 80% of voters said they decided who to vote for more than a month ago, 11% in the last month and 6% in the past week. 3% said they were undecided.
Among voters who decided their support more than a month ago, Trump went 52% to 48%, but among voters who decided their support within the last month or week, Harris went 60% to 36%. ,” Spencer said. Mr. Kimball is the executive director of Emerson College Polling. “Three percent of voters who said they might still change their mind now support Harris, 48% to 43%.”
The findings illustrate the growing competition between Harris and Trump. The Hills Decision Desk headquarters average shows Ms. Harris leading Mr. Trump by just under 3 points. Opinion polls in battleground states also show close results.
Hill Decision Desk averages show Harris leading Trump by less than 1 point in Michigan, while Trump leads by 1.5 points in Arizona. Harris leads by 0.2 points in Nevada, while Trump leads by 0.5 points in Wisconsin. And in Pennsylvania, the battleground state with the most electoral votes, Harris leads Trump by just 0.3 points.
The Emerson College poll was conducted between October 14 and 16, 2024 among 1,000 likely voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
