Obama: 'You would be worried if your grandpa was acting' like Trump

Former President Barack Obama on Friday harshly criticized former President Donald Trump's abilities and ridiculed the Republican candidate's recent comments.

“He called himself the 'father of in vitro fertilization,'” President Obama said at a rally in the battleground state of Arizona. “I don't know what that means. Neither do you.” He said Jan. 6 is “Love Day.” If grandpa behaved like this, he would be worried. ”

“No, no. I'm not kidding. You do that, right? You call your cousins and say, 'Did you notice?'” he added.

Democrats, including Harris' campaign, have also criticized Trump in recent weeks, criticizing his mental health and questioning his stability, and earlier this week standing up to music for nearly 40 minutes at a town hall in Pennsylvania. He is bashing the former president for shaking him down.

“I must point out that along with his intentions, there are also questions about his abilities,” Obama continued Friday. “Have you seen him lately? I mean, he's been out there and he's given two, two-and-a-half hour speeches, just the word salad. You know what he said? I don’t know if there are any.”

“He's talking about Hannibal Lecter,” he added, referring to President Trump's praise of the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter. “He's talking about this. He's talking about that.”

President Obama was in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday night to campaign for Vice President Harris and U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.). With less than three weeks until Election Day, the former Democratic president is touring key battleground states and is scheduled to appear in court with Harris in Georgia next week.

Friday's rally also heavily criticized Trump's decision to cancel taking questions from Monday's City Council meeting in the wake of two medical emergencies. Instead, the Republican presidential candidate decided to perform his favorite song in front of the crowd.

President Obama said in Arizona, “I've held a number of town hall meetings, so let me explain.'' “The purpose of town hall meetings is to take questions. He just decided not to take any questions, and then he spent about 30 minutes obsessing over 'Ave Maria' and 'YMCA.'

“People are standing there and they don't know what's going on,” he continued. “Can you imagine if I had done that? Can you imagine if Ruben had done it?”

The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment.
