Texas man arrested for allegedly stealing neighbors’ dogs, killing them

A Texas man has been arrested and charged with cruelty to non-domestic animals after allegedly adopting a pet and then killing it.

On October 3, the Bowie County Sheriff's Office received a report of several dogs missing from a local home. One of the callers said the suspected dog thief lived in the area.

Deputies searched the Sims area and went to the home where Stuart Duncan Hammons and his girlfriend lived. They smelled like rotting animals. K.S.L.A. Reported.

Police found seven animal carcasses around the house and barn. They found skeletal remains, 12 of which were confirmed to be dogs. Some of these dog skeletons had head trauma, and there were marks indicating they had probably been shot.

The sheriff's office said they believe Hammonds killed all four dogs in a fit of rage during a fight with his girlfriend, and witnesses confirmed Hammonds killed all 12 dogs.
