The mother of a Brooklyn high school student whose head was allegedly slammed against a wall by a football coach says she is not surprised by new allegations that another player was sexually assaulted at her school.
Deslyn Willock, who filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against James Madison High School and former JV football coach Nicholas Nugent for allegedly physically assaulting her son, said another player assaulted her during a hazing incident. Officials said the victim was left unsupervised at around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday before being dragged into the locker room by three other players.
Officials said the teenage thugs forcibly removed the boy's pants and underwear, before one of the assailants slapped the victim twice on the penis.
The boy's mother later reported the incident to police.
Officials with the school and the Midwood campus athletic program did not respond to requests for comment on the incident.
Willock said she herself has been met with silence from the school.
Her son Chayson Willock, then 14, fell asleep during a team meeting in September 2023 and one of the coaches slammed his head against a wall, according to the family's lawsuit.
Former coach Nicholas Nugent was charged with assault and intimidation last year, records show, and the case is still pending in a Brooklyn court with a trial scheduled for next month.
Nugent has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In 2015, a teacher was also accused of having daily sexual relations with a student.
“A lot of parents don't know what's going on,” Deslyn Willock said of the school. The school's students included famous comedian Chris Rock before he left the school. “They don't know, because [school officials] I don't want my parents to know.
“They didn't tell anyone what happened to their son,” she added. “Most of the parents at that school still don't know anything. … They don't know what happened in this case. They don't know until it's on the news and they don't see it. .”
