Alec Baldwin Returns to ‘SNL’ to Spoof Bret Baier, Kamala Harris Interview; Months After Judged Dismissed Involuntary Manslaughter Case

NEW YORK (AP) — Alec Baldwin is back on “Saturday Night Live.”

However, the actor who won an Emmy Award for playing former President Donald Trump did not reprise the role. He returned Saturday night, playing Fox News' Bret Baier in an opening skit that mimicked this week's interview with Kamala Harris.

After receiving loud cheers from the audience, Baldwin revealed that he was playing Baier, joking, “You sure look like the businessman in Minecraft.''

After shaking hands with Beier, who played Baldwin, Harris, who played Rudolph, nervously laughed and said, “This joy is not ours.''

The skit teased that Baier actually interrupted Harris, and Baldwin repeated Rudolph's interference in rapid succession.

After interrupting the first question several times, Rudolph said: “Can I finish now?”

Baldwin: “Please.”

Rudolph: “Then please listen.”

Baldwin: “Well, I can’t because I’m talking.”

Rudolph: “So, when are you going to stop?”

“Maybe when I go to bed,” Baldwin replied, and the audience burst into laughter.

The skit also mocked the moment Baier admitted he made a mistake by playing an incorrect clip of Trump's reaction.

The clip allowed “SNL” to bring in a mini-skit that included Dana Carvey, who plays President Joe Biden, who has played the role since the beginning of the comedy sketch show's 50th season.

The skit ended, then was interrupted multiple times, but then Harris asked: We're broadcasting live from New York, Saturday night! ” Baldwin joined in.

“Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton will host Saturday's show, and Billie Eilish will serve as music host.

Baldwin holds the record for hosting “SNL” 17 times, but hasn't appeared recently. His manslaughter trial over the shooting death of a cinematographer on the set of the movie “The Last” ended in a miscarriage of justice in July.
