almost two weeks later 60 minutes After it was revealed that they had fabricated an interview to give Kamala Harris consistency, the disgraced news organization released a statement admitting that it had edited her answers.
In a promotional clip released by CBS News to promote Harris' interview, this was the sitting vice president's disastrous answer to Harris' question. 60 minutes Correspondent Bill Whitaker said of the regime's inability to influence Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
As a result of our work, many Israeli movements were born in the region. These movements were inspired by, or resulted from, many things, including our advocacy for what should happen in this region.
The clip drew widespread ridicule when the interview was subsequently broadcast on television. 60 minutesCBS News replaced the word salad. Viewers saw Kamala give completely different answers to the exact same questions.
We're not going to stop pursuing what it takes to clarify where the United States stands on the need to end this war.
Her argument sounds more consistent there, no question, but it's only in the first quote that she actually answers the question. The second quote seems more conclusive, but it's not the answer. A reliable news agency would not make such a choice.
There was an uproar, including from the Trump campaign, who demanded that CBS release the unedited transcript of the interview. A complaint was then (accurately) filed with the FCC accusing CBS News of manipulating the news. Pressed to respond, CBS eventually admitted that it had replaced Kamala's answer, but hilariously insisted there was nothing wrong with it. along with it Editorial decisions:
60 minutes I gave him excerpts of our interview. Let's face the nation It used a longer section of her answer 60 minutes. Same question. Same answer. But different parts of the response. When editing interviews with politicians, athletes, movie stars, etc., we strive to be clear, accurate, and to the point. Part of her answer is 60 minutes was more concise, allowing time for other subjects within the broader 21-minute segment.
I mean, it's acceptable, but it's just exaggerated in the arrogant bullshit of journalistic ethics.
The reason this statement hasn't been rung is because CBS has refused to release the unedited transcript. clearly, 60 minutes I hope Kamala Harris wins the election. clearly, 60 minutes hopes to use up the remaining time until voting day.
This is the third presidential election, CBS and 60 minutes I tried the rig.
With CBS in 2004 60 minutes Then-Republican President George W. Bush authorized Dan Rather to report on forged documents that “proved” that he was inactive during his time in the Texas Air National Guard.
In 2020, CBS and 60 minutes During an interview with then-President Trump, he lied that Hunter Biden's laptop was the product of Russian disinformation. President Trump wisely refused to talk to these election fraudsters this year because CBS News still hasn't retracted its lies.
And now they are trying to fabricate 2024 again to aid and abet Kamala Harris.
The Democrats certainly did well.
