Critic Chris Matthews said that after Cheney announced her support for Harris this year, Vice President Harris and the Democratic Party are hopeful that former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) will win the presidential election this fall. He said he generally believes he should be included on the policy-making agenda if the situation arises.
“If you're going to take advantage of her, pay her back after she's in office. Don't act like you're giving Republicans a little nod,” Matthews said Monday on MSNBC's “Morning Joe.” We have a problem, Democrats. I don't have all the answers. We must take tougher action at our borders. We have to work hard and come up with a reasonable way to bring people into the country in a reasonable way. So that they may eventually become citizens. But something has to be done. You can't say, “I'm with Biden.” That's not very good. ”
Matthews also said Democrats have a problem with messaging on inflation and the economy and suggested Cheney could help.
“You can't say anything about inflation. It's world inflation. Nobody cares about the world. They want to know why their prices are going up.” “So I think the Democratic Party has a lot of things to sort out, but one of the things they have to show is courage and grit, and that woman has that.”
Matthews' comment was the first. Highlighted by Mediaite.
Cheney and Harris have participated in numerous events targeting suburban voters in the “blue wall” states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Cheney, a vocal critic of President Trump, told the crowd on Monday that Harris was “someone you can trust and someone kids can look up to.”
Harris is shot down before Questions about whether to include Mr. Cheney in the Cabinet.
