Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made a surprise visit to Ukraine on Monday and announced $400 million in U.S. military aid to Kiev. This is the second approximately $400 million aid package sent within a week.
Mr. Austin told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that he was “honored” to return for his fourth trip to Ukraine.
“Under President Biden's leadership, the United States remains committed to maintaining this support. So today, I am announcing a $400 million grant to provide your military with additional ammunition, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons. I am happy to announce the commitment of the Presidential Financial Plan,” he told the President of Ukraine.
Austin said that while “our focus remains on Ukraine's immediate needs,” the U.S. is also committed to assisting Ukraine, as outlined in the bilateral security agreement signed in July with President Joe Biden. He said he is committed.

Zelenskiy thanked “the American people, President Biden and bipartisan support.”
“We are extremely grateful for all the support the United States has provided for Ukraine since the beginning of this war,” he said.
Zelenskiy added, “Thank you, by the way, for the last package to support our soldiers,” adding that he and Biden “have a lot of conversations about winning plans, preparing for winter with our air defense capabilities, how to strengthen all of this.” We talked about important things.” ”
“And we also discussed some details [about] “The next package is extremely important to us, especially during this harsh winter period,” he said. “So we're going to discuss all of this with the president. We want to continue. I'm sure we'll probably get some results, no, we'll get some significant results.”
