Jillian Michaels rose to fame years ago by building a fitness empire, but her political awakening was only recently — she told Dave Rubin of the Rubin Report that it was because of “COVID-19. “It started because of the virus,” he said.
Michaels recalled that the Los Angeles restaurant's policy “required you to wear a mask when you went to your table, but as soon as you sat down, you were under the influence of the coronavirus and you were fine.”
“That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen in my adult life. It was complete nonsense,” she told Rubin.
“So from that moment on, you essentially started seeing lies, right? And once you see lies in a certain way, they're everywhere,” Rubin comments.
“Not only were we starting to see lies everywhere, but the lies were growing at an exponential pace, Dave. It was just bananas. We weren't allowed to have the conversation, we weren't telling the truth “I was telling you what I knew,” she replies.
Four years after his awakening, Michaels, who is gay and married to a woman, is forced to make a decision.
“So, you woke up. For example, you've been a moderate lefty all your life, and you've never been particularly politically active. Now you see everything in the light. The election… A few days from now, are you going to vote for Donald Trump?'' Rubin asks.
“I don't influence anyone's vote, right? I don't tell anyone who to vote for,” Michaels replied, adding, “I did vote for Donald Trump.”
“He was not the person I would have chosen as a candidate to run in the primary. I understand his flaws, believe me, I can list them all. But for me The problem is that it becomes a matter of lesser evils,” she continues, listing the First Amendment, endless wars, and Big Pharma as some of the issues on the ballot.
Michaels said these issues are especially important given that not only have all these issues been so heavily censored over the past four years, but those who speak out about them often face consequences. That's what I think.
“Then they shut down your social media and fire you from your job. It's going to come at you,” she added.
