This tally could exceed the number of votes cast in the 2020 presidential election. Just over 3 million residents of the Big Apple voted between President Biden and former President Donald Trump.
Nearly 500,000 more people across the state voted early this year than in previous elections, according to preliminary numbers released Monday by the New York State Board of Elections.
More than 2.98 million people voted during this year's early voting period, compared to 2.51 million during the same period in 2020.
