Electoral College Is the Founding Fathers Version of ‘Voter Suppression’

MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell said Tuesday that the electoral system was a form of voter suppression during the station's election coverage.

O'Donnell said: “I want to apologize to all the states I didn't mention. It's not our fault, the founding fathers decided on something called the Electoral College. Interestingly, no other country in the world So it's natural to feel, in the president's words, that virtually no one cares about your vote. If you're in California or New York and you think about how enormous the power of voter suppression is, there may be no comparison for California voters to vote for their president. Imagine if we started thinking it mattered: There are people in California who didn't vote, didn't register, and won't vote today. There are 7 million people.”

He added: “If most of them vote, it will add millions of dollars to Kamala Harris.” This electoral system problem concerns us more than ever in the 21st century. ”
