Dynalex has expanded its recall of baby powder “due to possible asbestos contamination,” according to a notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Monday's expansion of the original Sept. 19 recall includes an additional 373 cases of Dynarex Baby Powder 14 oz (Item No. 4875) and 647 cases of Dynacare Baby Powder 4 oz (Item No. 4874). The plastic bottles came in packs of 24 each. or 48.
The first recall included 62 cases of Dynacare Baby Powder, batch number B 051, item 4875. The FDA currently states that the recalled products are from batches B 048 through B 060.
The batch number is written on the bottle and on the bottom of each case.

The products were shipped to distributors in 35 states and sold online on Amazon starting January 18th.
After asbestos-containing finished products were identified through a “regular FDA sampling program,” the company stopped distribution of the products, began an investigation into the source of the contamination, and initiated a recall.

No illnesses or adverse events have been reported to date, but consumers who purchased the recalled Dynacare Baby Powder “should stop using it and immediately return it for a full refund,” the FDA said.

“Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral commonly found near talc, an ingredient in many cosmetic products,” the FDA notice states. “However, asbestos is a known carcinogen and its health risks are well-documented.” If steps are not taken, it may contain asbestos.”
