Griffin has not expressed his political beliefs as often as other former athletes and media associates. However, he did speak out about the attempted assassination of President Trump in July.

Griffin posted a video that day defending the president and criticizing those who theorized the attempt was staged.

Colin Kaepernick says he's going to make sure being 'barred out' from the NFL is the reason he can't be in it

“Hey, I don't care how much you love or hate President Donald Trump. This is not the time for politics. This is the time for Donald Trump, his family, and the people who lost someone in the war. It's time to pray for the family of the man who brought us here to believe that this assassination attempt was staged, so much so that we forget that someone died,” Griffin said in the video.

Mr. Griffin also called for the firing of the police and Secret Service officers who were tasked with stopping the shooting.

“This shouldn't happen. The person who was in charge of the police that day should be gone. The person who was in charge of the Secret Service should be gone, because whether you like Donald Trump or not, “I'm alive because every life has value,” he said.

Prior to that, Griffin criticized President Trump and President Biden during the first debate on CNN on June 27th.

“My God, this presidential debate proves that we need younger presidential candidates,” Griffin wrote to X that night.

“Presidential candidates in the middle of a debate debated golf handicaps. This presidential debate is a sitcom.”

Mr. Griffin has not publicly expressed support for Mr. Trump. However, many former NFL players are divided in their political beliefs.

Former NFL stars Brett Favre, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell were some of Trump's most vocal supporters throughout the election process, and current San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa has been a vocal supporter of Trump's “Make America” campaign. They even risked being fined by walking around wearing the words 'Great Again'. He spoke during an ongoing postgame interview on NBC on October 27th.

Fellow former NFL player Ryan Clark and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick have criticized Trump.
