He plays the titular maverick Jackal, who, after a high-profile hit, meets Bianca, a tenacious British agent played by Lashana Lynch. This is the final installment of David Olusoga's fascinating series of stories about the lives of residents of London and Berlin apartment blocks during World War II. He focuses on the period from the winter of 1942 to the end of the war. Karim Ainouz's fascinating historical thread depicts the end of Henry VIII's reign through the eyes of his last queen, Catherine Parr. As the “survivor” wife, Alicia Vikander could hardly have been better. He struggles to maintain his limited power while juggling the moods of an ailing king (played in a wonderfully unsexy performance by Jude Law) and the country's unstable religious climate. A wrong move could result in the death penalty. Simon Russell Beale plays Bishop Stephen Gardiner, a ninja adversary who rightly suspects her of having dangerously modern thinking. Simon Wardell
