No pardon planned for Hunter Biden, White House says

The White House said Thursday there are no plans yet for President Biden to pardon his son Hunter before he leaves office following President-elect Donald Trump's victory.

“Our answer is no,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.

Asked about the possibility of a reduction, Jean-Pierre said: “That's not what we're trying to do.”

President Biden's son, Hunter Biden, was found guilty in June of lying about using illegal drugs when applying to buy a gun six years ago and then illegally possessing them, making him the youngest child of a sitting president. was the first conviction.

A federal judge agreed to postpone Hunter Biden's sentencing to Dec. 4.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in September to all nine federal tax charges he faced, averting his second criminal trial this year just before it was set to begin.

President Biden and other White House officials have repeatedly said they have no intention of pardoning his son before leaving office.

President Trump said late last month that he would not rule out pardoning Hunter Biden if he wins the election.

“I'm not going to take it off the books. Look, unlike Joe Biden, despite what they did to me, despite what happened, they kept me so persistent. He went after him — and Hunter is a bad guy. There's no question about that. He was a bad kid,” Trump told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.
