Israel has also added telephone lines to its embassy and the situation room at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog said Thursday's attack was the most alarming thing to happen to Jews since the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas terrorists in southern Israel.
“We woke up this morning to shocking images and videos that we had hoped to never see again since October 7th. We are now facing Maccabi Tel Aviv fans and Israeli citizens in the center of Amsterdam, Netherlands. “An anti-Semitic pogrom is occurring,” Herzog wrote. X.

The Dutch prime minister said on Friday that “anti-Semitic” attacks on Israeli soccer fans were “unacceptable” and that “the perpetrators will be tracked down and prosecuted.”
Videos on social media showed multiple scuffles occurring on the street outside the stadium where Maccabi Tel Aviv FC was playing against Ajax. A few days earlier, Spanish media reported that anti-Israel agitators would stage a protest outside the stadium targeting Israeli soccer clubs and their fans.

The IDF has banned soldiers from flying to Amsterdam, but “exceptional requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis,” the military said.
