Connor Strynkowski completes NYC Marathon with bib pinned to bare chest

American runner Connor Strynkowski completed the New York City Marathon at breakneck speed with his bib strapped to his bare chest.

The 30-year-old traversed the route, which passes through all five boroughs of New York City, in just under 2 hours and 39 minutes. This is a pace close to 6 minutes per mile.

The exact conditions best suited for running 42.2 miles with four thorns strapped to your chest are still unknown, but the majority of runners who took part in Sunday's marathon were happy with the temperatures on race day.

The temperature was 44 degrees when Strinkowski started crossing the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge around 9 a.m. By the time I crossed the finish line in Central Park about two and a half hours later, the temperature had risen to a balmy 50 degrees.

Strynkowski's official time — 2:38:16 — 326th fastest out of 55,524 marathon finishers. His time was a good 94th in his age group (30-34 years old).
