CMC is back.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that star running back Christian McCaffrey is “okay” for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
“We'll take him off the IR tomorrow, and then unless something weird happens on the plane, he'll be fine. He'll be fine off the IR tomorrow,” Shanahan said.
McCaffrey has not played yet this season due to Achilles tendonitis and a calf strain that has been bothering him since preseason.
On Thursday, Shanahan told KNBR's “Tolbert & Copes” that McCaffrey felt good when he returned to practice Monday and is scheduled to return Sunday.
“I kind of feel good. He's had a good two days…he's been great the last two days,” Shanahan said during the radio hit.
“So, hopefully things continue to go well and I'm looking forward to getting him out there and you never know what's going to happen, setbacks and all that, but the last two days have been great. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the field.”

McCaffrey's return is a welcome sight for the 49ers, who sit at 4-4 and are heading into a week off.
San Francisco is currently embroiled in a close battle in the NFC West, with all four teams separated by just one game in the standings, with the Cardinals in first place at 5-4.
McCaffrey, the Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, rushing for a league-leading 1,459 yards, 14 touchdowns, 564 yards and seven touchdowns through the air. There is.
Third-year running back Jordan Mason replaced the three-time Pro Bowler in the 49ers' backfield, rushing for 685 yards in eight games.
