‘Hard to Understand’ Why Voters Rejected Democrats’ Vision

Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minnesota) announced his and Kamala Harris' opposition to America after a historic Election Day battle in which Donald Trump won the electoral college and popular vote. He admitted that he was confused by the lack of acceptance by the American public of his vision.

Governor Walz touted his post-election speech as offering a plan for “our path forward,” attacking Trump multiple times and calling for him to lower the temperature.

“It's hard to understand why so many of our fellow citizens, those for whom we fought so long and so hard, ultimately chose a different path,” Walz mused aloud. “It’s hard to guess what that path will look like over the next four years.”

Even though Americans overwhelmingly chose Trump's plan to solve these problems, Walz made it clear that voters were concerned.

“Everywhere I went, what struck me was that people really wanted the same basic things,” he said, adding that along with “safety,” they also wanted “meaningful work, safe neighborhoods, “Good schools, affordable, quality health care.”

Walz touted his resume in Minnesota and expressed little tolerance for Trump, even though Trump made big gains in blue states. He claimed to have served the nation on these issues “by defending our shared values and rejecting hatred and bigotry,” adding: “The right of all people to participate fully in our democracy. He proudly stated, “I fought for this,” and further threw shade at Trump, saying he “refuses to participate in democracy.” Immigrants in this state are scapegoats. ”

He discussed “our path forward” while fear-mongering about the Trump administration's agenda.

“I know there are a lot of people who are worried about the next four years and what's going to happen to them,” he said. “I'm one of them. The agenda we heard from the other side in this campaign was very different from what we know is right for our state and our country.”

He continued, “We've already seen what damage a president can cause when he acts on his own behalf rather than on behalf of the American people. Look, what happens from the pipes? We know it because they told us, and we have to be ready to defend the progress we've made here in Minnesota.”

“The moment they try to bring hateful policies into this state, I will be ready to stand up and fight for the way things are done here,” Walz promised.

He then made a series of promises about the issues that contributed to his and Harris' losses. “As long as I am governor of Minnesota,” he said, the state will “welcome immigrants with gratitude for their contributions to our communities and…stand with the rest of the world in the fight against climate change.” “We will continue to be a state that respects climate change,” he said. Democracy, a place where we take pride in civil debate and don't demonize those who disagree with us. ”

Walz concluded by reminding the audience that now is not the time to judge the winner too harshly.

“I think sometimes we're quick to judge people who disagree with us and assume they're acting out of cruelty, fear, or self-interest,” he said. . “I don't think that kind of judgment is helpful at this point, and I don't think it's right. We need to swallow some of our pride and try to find common ground with our neighbors who didn't vote like this I think I need to put a little more effort into this, and I'm talking about myself.
