ABC's “The View”'s Sarah Haines explained her thoughts on why voters supported President-elect Trump in a heated discussion with her co-hosts Friday.
“The way the left speaks to voters is condescending,” Haines said. Clips highlighted by gravure.
She argued that Democrats have a history of degrading voters.
“I don't blame Joe Biden. I don't blame Kamala Harris. Go back as much as you want,” she said. “I condemn the messaging within the Democratic Party.”
Haines was then asked by co-host Sunny Hostin if she thought Trump's comments were “problematic.” Earlier this week, Hostin expressed disappointment with the election results, describing it as a “referendum on cultural resentment.”
“Obviously I have a problem. Everyone has a problem with Donald Trump,” Haines said. “I think the bigger question is why did they vote for him?”
“We need to be introspective. If we voted for Kamala Harris, we need to say, 'What didn't resonate with voters?'
“What didn't resonate with voters when they said we weren't safe and the left was focused on 'defunding the police' and bail reform?
“When we focused on changing the name of the school, some people said, ‘Students are destroying the university.’ I paid for it, but they can’t learn. Everyone kept apologizing for it, denying that the border was a crisis, and saying, “No, no, that's a problem.” Are you okay. '”
But longtime host Joy Behar chimed in, noting that Biden was trying to get Congress to pass a bill earlier this year that would expand resources for the border, saying, “There was a border bill.” did.
Fellow host Alyssa Farrah Griffin also claimed on Thursday's show that Democrats lost. Because there are “national borders”.
Haines made a similar argument Friday, pushing back against claims that Trump won because of his racist comments rather than public confidence in his ability to improve the economy.
“Joy, what I'm saying is that they [Democrats] I screamed and screamed and screamed. they didn't vote for him [Trump] Because he's a racist or a misogynist. They voted because they needed help with their daily lives,” she said.
Crosstalk and arguments ensued. In the end, Haynes reached the final point.
“Every racist and misogynist voted for Donald Trump. Not everyone who voted for Donald Trump was a racist or misogynist,” she said.
