The Trump campaign announced Saturday that former Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler will co-chair President-elect Trump's inaugural committee, along with Steve Witkoff.
Republican leaders said the committee would “congratulate” him on his victory in the 2024 election.
“The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee celebrates this incredible victory that celebrates the American people and our country,” Trump said in a statement.
“This is the kickoff of my administration, and we will deliver on our bold promise to make America great again,” he added. “Together, we celebrate this moment steeped in history and tradition, and we begin work to restore strength, success, and common sense to the Oval Office and create the best possible future for our people.”
Loeffler was appointed to the Senate by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) in 2019 following the resignation of former Sen. Johnny Isaacson (R).
During her time in office, she was an ardent supporter of Trump and supported a lawsuit seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election, but voiced opposition to the measure after the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. .
The selection comes after President Trump nominated longtime senior adviser Susie Wilkes to be his chief of staff. She will be the first woman to hold the position.
During the campaign, Trump's opponents claimed he didn't like “challenges from women” and accused him of telling Americans he would protect demographics “whether they like it or not.” I took a bath.
