Experienced Oregon hiker found dead in Mount Hood National Forest after search

An experienced hiker who was reported missing on Wednesday was found dead Friday in Oregon's Mount Hood National Forest, authorities said.

The hiker was last heard from at 2 p.m. Wednesday, only planning a day hike and did not have overnight gear.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the hiker's family reported the 33-year-old man missing at 7:30 p.m. that night.

A county search team was called out, and rescuers quickly found the hiker's footprints in the snow near the Paradise Park Trail in southeast Portland.

In late October, a 24-year-old hiker from Texas was also found dead in Big Bend National Park.

The hiker was found along the Marfo Vega Trail, a 14-mile loop that winds through rugged desert and rocky cliffs, the National Park Service said.
