Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has criticized Sen. Bernie Sanders for his comments claiming that Democrats have “abandoned” the working class and suffered a landslide defeat in the 2024 election.

On Saturday, Ms. Pelosi (D-Calif.) appeared on the New York Times' “The Interview'' and harshly criticized Mr. Sanders (D-Vermont) for his comments.
“With all due respect, I have a lot of respect for him.” [Sanders]for what he stands for, but I don't respect his statement that the Democratic Party has abandoned working class families. That’s where we are,” Pelosi said. “Under President Biden, relief supplies are arriving, people have money in their pockets, a shot in the arm, kids are safely in school, and working people are back to work. Trump is president. What did we do when we did that? A bill that gave tax cuts to America's wealthiest people.”
Pelosi's comments came after Sanders posted on X that Democrats' losses were “not that surprising” because working-class voters looked elsewhere for change.
“It's not really surprising that the Democratic Party, which has abandoned working-class people, now realizes that the working class has abandoned them,” Sanders said.

While Democratic leaders defend the status quo, Americans are angry and want change.
Asked why so many voters with incomes under $100,000 supported Trump, Pelosi blamed the loss on “cultural issues.”
“There are cultural issues at play in the election as well. Guns, God, and gays, that's what they say.”
President-elect Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris, winning all seven battleground states and decisively winning the election. The result was surprising given that opinion polls had long predicted a close race.
