Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) criticized Democrats' attitude toward Joe Rogan and other podcast hosts in comments Sunday.
Sanders appeared on CNN's “State of the Union” and was asked by host Dana Bash about the shock he received after appearing on Logan's podcast years ago and gaining support.
“Yeah, I think that's fair enough. Look, you're going to have an argument with Logan, agree with him or disagree with him. But what's the problem with being on those shows?” Is there? That's hard to understand,” Sanders said.
Logan endorsed President-elect Trump the day before Election Day. Mr. Trump met with Mr. Logan late last month, and the two spoke for nearly three hours. Trump ally Elon Musk also appeared on the show before the election.
Vice President Harris' campaign did not report an interview with Mr. Logan, but said Mr. Logan would not be at his Texas-based studio. Logan said the interview didn't take place because he had to go to her and could only sit for an hour. Harris was criticized for not appearing on her own show.
After a crushing election loss, the Democratic Party has come under fire and is trying to figure out what went wrong. Some say that by not interviewing Logan, Harris missed an opportunity to reach a younger male demographic.
Sanders argued Sunday that more candidates need to reach “millions of viewers” who tune into alternative media.
In January 2020, Logan said he would vote for Sanders in the Democratic primary.
The Vermont senator noted that he faced backlash from the Democratic Party establishment when he sat in on a press conference with Logan during the primary.
“I don't think there's a problem with doing that,” Sanders said Sunday.
