An emergency response was called after an Illinois driver crashed his car off a shopping mall parking deck Monday afternoon.
The car accident occurred Monday afternoon at Harlem Irving Plaza in Norwich. The Norwich Police Department announced the incident in a Facebook post, noting that officers arrived at the scene just before 12:30 p.m.
“At approximately 12:28 p.m., Norwich Police and Norwood Park Fire Protection District were dispatched to the 4000 block of Octavia in response to a vehicle that had crashed through a guardrail in the Harlem and Irving Plaza Mall parking lot,” police said. announced. Facebook post.

Police Chief Brian Goss told FOX News Digital that the car fell about 20 feet and the accident was accidental.
Police said the driver's injuries were not life-threatening.

“The driver was rescued from the Norwood Park Fire and taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the Facebook post said.
Lt. Ron Schneider told FOX 32 Chicago it took 20 to 30 minutes to remove the driver from the vehicle. Authorities have not revealed the exact cause of the incident.
