President-elect Trump has appointed his longtime ally, New York businessman Stephen Witkoff, as his special envoy for the Middle East.
Witkoff is a real estate investor, landlord, and founder of the Witkoff Group, which he founded in 1977.

President Trump said in the announcement that Witkoff will be a “constant voice for peace” in the conflict-ridden region.

“Steve is a highly respected leader in business and philanthropy, and someone who made every project and community he touched stronger and more prosperous,” the announcement Tuesday night said. “Steve will be a tireless advocate for peace and make us all proud.”
